Abundance and Prosperity for Chinese New Year
The streets of Singapore’s Chinatown are lighting it up once again to ring in the Year of the Pig.

Expect a huge “Celebration of Abundance and Prosperity” this coming Chinese New Year courtesy of the Kreta Ayer – Kim Seng Citizens Consultative Committee. Singaporeans and tourists alike are in for a line-up of exciting performances and mouth-watering delicacies.

For starters, rows of lanterns forming a giant “春” (Spring) and the auspicious Carp will light up South Bridge Road. Vibrant and innovative Piglet-themed lighting will also spread throughout the main streets of Chinatown. Next up are festive street bazaar, nightly stage shows, and the lion dance competition. These features will keep everyone on their toes in sheer excitement.

The Official Light-up and Opening Ceremony will kick start the Chinatown Chinese New Year 2019 celebrations on 19 January 2019, followed by continuous days of street light-up along Chinatown that will last till 6 March 2019. Meanwhile, the Festive Street Bazaar will have irresistible delicacies and other great items from 18 January to 4 February 2019.

One of the most anticipated events in this year’s festival, the Lion Dance Competition will wow the crowd on 26 January 2019. Reputable troupes from Singapore and around Asia Pacific will pit themselves against one another to vie for the grand title of ‘King of the Lions.’
